WIESBADEN – The selling prices in wholesale trade were 12.8% higher in December 2022 than in December 2021. The annual rates of change in November 2022 and in October 2022 had been +14.9% and +17.4%, respectively. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reports that, compared with the previous month, wholesale prices decreased by 1.6% in December 2022.

The high annual rate of change for wholesale prices mainly derives from increased prices for raw materials and intermediate products. The largest impact on the annual rate of change in December 2022 had the price increase in wholesale trade with mineral oil products (+22.8%). Particularly sharp price increases compared with December 2021 showed in wholesale trade with solid fuels (+82.3%), as well as with living animals (+47.6%).
